A rechargeable emergency bulb goes in an ordinary socket, charges while the power is on and simply keeps burning when it goes off — the least effort of anything here. Check it holds charge in storage; lithium cells that sit flat for a year are the common failure. Keep one per floor rather than one bright one in a cupboard.
